in so doing和 in doing so含义相同，都表示“这样做，因为这样”，但in so doing相对更老式、更正式。

so that可用来引导目的状语从句，意为“为的是，以便于”。 例：I read more books so that I can catch up with my classmates. 我读更多的书，以便能赶上我的同学。

so that还可接用于引出结果的从句，意为““因此”、“以致”、“所以”。 例：He spoke clearly, so that everybody understood him. 他讲话讲得很清楚，所以大家都听懂了。

so....that 意为“如此……以至于……”，so用来修饰形容词或副词。 例：She was so angry that she couldn't speak. 她太生气了，以至于说不出来话了。
